Barcelona Feeds the Soul: Foodie Heaven

As a child I traveled. A lot. In fact, I have visited approximately 30 countries over my 40+ years. I still can not believe it took me that long to get to Barcelona! Luckily, my best friend and favorite travel companion, Amy, was along for the ride!

A private tour of the boutique bakery that bakes all of the loafs of bread for the number one pastry chef in the world, Albert Adrià's restaurants! This top elevates from the floor for a private dining experience in the bakery!

There are countless reasons why Barcelona feeds the soul. The art, the architecture, the people, the smells...the list goes on.

My love for Barcelona was cemented in an unassuming apartment building on the outskirts of town. On a cool summer night, I had one of the most magnificent meals in my life shared with my wife, Amy, 9 complete strangers, a Michelin chef named Xabi and his assistants.

In planning for our Barcelona "business" trip/vacation we stumbled across an amazing website, eatwith.com. If you have not tried eatwith.com yet we highly recommend you check out this website! They are an online event company that focuses on unique culinary experiences in cities across the globe.

At the time, we were hosting our own dinner series, The Silk Rodeo and were excited by the idea of attending something similar in another country. And, what better place than what many consider the culinary capitol of the world?

Although there were a good deal of eatwith.com experiences to choose from in Barcelona our work schedule limited us to this one night. Based on the menus provided on the website we opted for a 6 course Catalan fusion dinner for 11hosted by Michelin star Chef Xabi. It was set for Friday night at 9pm. We arrived at 9:10pm. Catalan time!

Not only was this dinner one of the best meals of my life, we also met the coolest people. We met this great woman, Katherine, who had recently moved to Barcelona from London. She has the most incredible job too! She heads up a food touring company called Devourspain.com

She brought her boyfriend to this EatWith to celebrate his birthday. They are so crazy about artichokes they even give you one for your birthday!

Hope that made you hungry for Barcelona!
